Learning

At Stretton Watermill history really does come to life.  Our experienced millers will guide your group around this 14th century flour mill and demonstrate the working machinery.  In addition we offer a range of hands-on workshops for schools linked to curriculum topics and presentations on aspects of mill history for adult groups.  We are happy to tailor sessions to meet your needs and help you get the most out of your visit.

School Visits

School visits to Stretton Watermill are currently free of charge.  A visit to the watermill includes a guided tour where pupils will see wheat being ground into flour, hear and feel the rumble of ancient machinery, help to work a sack hoist and witness the power of the waterwheels.

In addition to your tour, we have a range of hands-on workshops linking to watermill themes and supporting the curriculum.  You can choose one of these to add to the tour if you are coming for a half-day visit, or two if you are coming for a whole day.

Group Visits

For pre-booked adult groups the charge is £2.00 per person.  We offer a personal guided tour with your own miller.  Please book in advance so we can make sure an extra miller is on site.  Conducted tours of the mill can also be given in French.

We have space for a coach or up to 25 cars on our car park.

Many visiting groups also go on to nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Tattenhall Ice Cream Farm.

If you would like to arrange a visit then please contact our main office at Weaver Hall Museum on 01606 271640 or email the Learning Team[email protected]
